Equipment

Water filtration- Sawyer Squeeze (3.5oz) and Aquamira as a backup. Had giardia once and never again. I will be bringing 2- one liter bottles; and 4- 1.5 liter bladders to maximize h2o carriage (especially for the first bit of PCT) and not have all my h2o in just 2 or 3 containers. (weights later)

Knife- Swiss Army of course. Either my officer's pocket blade or my standard multi/utility will be in my pocket. I have always carried a pocket knife since I was a wee lad not much past single digit in age. Not going to stop now.  Weight does not matter regarding my knife. It is a must.

Hat- I have a nice broad rimmed one which should work well for ear and face sun protection. The sides snap up when not needed. The is also a tighten down chin strap. It is camo in color and is quite a counter to my bright red Cascadias. This hat will also be usefull straining Really nasty water before filtration lol:(

Sock is Vermont's Darn Tough (X2 extra).

Shoes are Brooks Cascadia. I have a pair of #9's and #10's right now.  At one pound per pair at my size 13 I believe carrying a second pair to change into during the second half of every day will bring my added psychological and physiological advantage of feeling like my feet are fresh.  The trade-off is- no camp shoes.

Trekking Poles BAFX (12 OZ each) My first trekking poles. I'll keep you posted.

Backpack choice is the ULA Circuit at 41oz or the ULA Catalyst at 48 oz. I am leaning to a little less space with 7 oz. less weight. Maybe.
I have started using my Kelty external frame behemoth from 1976 filled with 20-25 pounds of water bottles (depends how much I drink) for practice walks. I want to be use to carrying weight long before the trail.

Tent choice right now is either Tarptent's Protrail at 26oz. (Moment DW at 34oz, or Rainbow at 33oz.)

Ground sheet is Tyvek at 5.5oz.

Stove choice is definitely Jetboils Flash Java Kit (bright orange-red) with coffee press at about 8.5oz before gas which weighs depending on the canister size 4oz and 8oz. Morning coffee will bring good mental happiness.

Underwear will be boxer briefs (1 extra) (whatever colour), (weights later). I wore this type of undee while waiting table for a decade. They served me well up to ten hours on my feet/thighs so they should do fine on trail. I use hanes and fruit of the loom already so they will probably be on me and in my pack; and they're also inexpensive.

Umbrella- TBD what kind if I do have one.

Electric/electronic items- Definitely phone and charger. Definitely some kind of emergency device. The rest TBD.

More choices to be made as time's running out. I will keep you advised.
