24 October 2014. 2231 So begins my explanations and decisions about equipment, my many varied decisions to walk the PCT, my daily build-up towards endurance, nutritional diet building, and other lessons I learn and acquire along my journey to my journey. I will be walking raising awareness about Spondylitis arthritis for
The Spondylitis Association of America http://www.spondylitis.org/support/ , and about two awesome pediatric cancer associations,
The Scott Carter Foundation http://www.scottcarterfoundation.org/#!donate/ctzx , which raises money for pediatric cancer research,
and The Tyler Robinson Foundation http://www.trf.org/donate/ , which raises money to help off-set the cost of fighting pediatric cancer for families.
Please mention to them that you learned of them through this site.
My Mom is an inspiration to me from her determination of kind spirit and love during her now fourth fight with cancer. Her spirit of positiveness has been an inspiration for me for years. My daughter Ren shows me her determination to persevere with her fight against spondylitis arthritis. Ren excels in carrying on knowing that her joints will swell and hurt when she helps carry the massive Oklahoma state flag onto the field before the OU/texas game of the Red River Rivalry.
Today is two days after the death from cancer of my Dad. He was an inspiration to me and held me in awe by his accomplishments through life including earning his pilot's learner's permit in his mid-70's. I will continue to work towards my completion of my degree at OSU-Tulsa until graduation 2015 December.
My intended kick-off day is either 28 or 29 March 2016.
The 29th would have been my Dad's 88th birthday, and that is reason enough to begin then; however, by utilizing that time of year I will also hopefully escape serious afternoon heat through the southern desert section of the trail.
Tomorrow is a morning walk day and then I go look at a car to replace my last car recently totaled by a lady on pills.
Wear your seat-belt. Peace, It's all good. Hans
